Our Dance Classes
Reflex Dance Studios offers high quality dance classes for different types of dance. If you want to know more about what are the styles you came to the right place.
Let’s start with 80s dance: what is 80s dance exactly? First of all, take into account that the dominating theme in that era was exaggeration. And a lot of drama. We take inspiration from 80s idols as well as the most iconic 80s moves (e.g. Running Man or Moonwalk) to make a class with one goal in mind: to have fun. We want you to laugh and make you feel like a superstar, all in unforgettable 60 mins of glorious booty-shaking in your best lycra outfit (neon colours and cheetah print welcome). So when we say funky dance classes what we really mean is – dis-inhibit yourself, let your fear go and the wild side that you’ve been hiding pop out, we want nothing else but you to relieve the pressure of your everyday life and flow as smooth as an Italian tiramisu during the class. 80s dance is about enabling you to move with no judgment as well. It is a very useful skill cos in the end, when you are at ease you look good and you transpire confidence.
Latin and Ballroom Dance
Moving onto the next style: ballroom and Latin American dance – we all have an idea of what that means but do we really know anything about it? If not, here is some explanation: ballroom dance consists in 5 dances: Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Fox Trot and Quick Step, while Latin American includes Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive. These are the “Strictly” dances, they are performed in sport championships and have a great deal of technique required to master them. The good news is, they are accessible to all and are proven to improve everyday life for a number of reasons (here are some of them):
- Dancing is proven to improve strength, flexibility and balance, while working on your cardio vascular system and burning calories;
- It spurs creativity, energy and motivation, relieving stress from everyday life and even preventing Alzheimer’s disease and dementia (this has been specifically related to ballroom dancing),
- It gives you the opportunity to meet new people as well as to get more confidence through the interaction with your partner –something that is still not possible online.
We also offer lessons in Salsa, merengue and Bachata for a proper “hips shaking” session as well as Argetine Tango, Hip hop, Jazz and Contemporary dance.
